A little Dudley, Goes A Long Way!

Dudley has gotten "all growed up".  He can not quite decide what he want to be yet, so we will let you decide.  I picked Zoo Keeper.  I am a little partial.  I made this photo frame using two sets and odds and ends from DoodleDragonStudios.  I took some of the animals from Dustin's Zoo set and added Dudley to it.  A few of the animals are odd and ends from old sets (penguin).  I had so much fun with this Dudley Grows Up set.  You can find Dudley HERE and the zoo set HERE.  I also entered this into  Stamping with Markers Challenge in the Moxie Fab World HERE .

Valentines Day Blog Hop

HOP WINNERS

It's time to announce the winners from the amazing blog hop this week! First I'd like to thank everyone who played along with us - the ladies who took the time to contribute a project for the hop, the amazing people who left supportive and encouraging comments on SO many blogs, and last but NOT least our generous sponsors! I'm so thrilled that my little nugget of an idea turned into such a virtual love-fest :)

A list was made of all the participants, in no particular order. Then with random.org, 20 numbers* were requested, to give me the blogs to draw winners from.  Those numbers determined which participant's blogs would have a prize winning comment.   Then each of those blogs used random.org to select a winning comment.

If your name is on this list, please use the GO HERE to Taylor's blog and click on the "email me"  button at the top of her blog to send her a note. In the Subject line, please put: Valentine's Day Hop Winner. In the email, include your contact info, and what prize you've won. Some prizes will be mailed directly to you from the sponsors, some will be emailed to you (in the case of digis). And please be aware, She is away from her computer Friday, so you might not hear from her right away. She is going to give everyone until Sunday night at 6:00 PM EST to claim their prizes, and then she'll draw new winners. That's just over 48 hours :)

Welcome to the Valentines Day Blog Hop.  My name is Jennifer Dove.  I am a copic certified teacher, and I LOVE to color.  I am on the design teams of Dustin Pike (doodleDragon Studios), Stampendous, Creative Impressions and TalkAbout Images. I have some fun tutorials if you scroll down and read my other posts.  Welcome to my blog :)

I have created something fun for your, just because I love you!  This image is from DoodleDragonStudios.  I love the images that Dustin Pike produces.  Be sure and head over to his blog or store to see for yourself!  I made a basket and decorated it using punches and flower dies, buttons and curling grid ribbon from Creative Impressions.  The ribbon curls on its own.  I made a card to go with the basket using another Dustin Pike image.  Sorry, the photo doesn't do it justice.

Thank you for all the kind compliments...even though there is an ulterior motive behind them...ha ha....I do love reading them anyway.  And good luck on the hop!

So hope along and leave comments on all the blogs for more chances to win the goodies.  You have until  Thursday, February 17th at 6p, EST to leave your comments.  Winners will be announced on Friday.  I will post here if a winner was drawn from my blog.  If you get stuck along the way...just skip that blog on hop on....we are due to have a few hiccups with that many people :)  HAVE FUN!

We're Such a Pear, You and I

What a wonderful group of gals attended the Build-A-Book Class 2 at the Paper Vineyard this last week!  We had so much fun testing ink and paper for Copic compatibility.  We also jumped into light source.  Here is the worksheet we did in class...and as homework.  Also included are some very special images drawn by our very own Dustin Pike for class.

Okay ladies..find the time to practice, practice, practice!  Click on images to get a close up!

you can get your free wonderfully delicious pear image from Beccy's Place blog HERE for free.  Thank you Beccy for your generosity :)

email me if you have any questions :)

DoodleDragon Release - Ever After

Everyone needs a little fairy tale in their lives right.  Well these images totally rock my world.  Although I am not much of a pink person, these screamed pink.  NEW RELEASE, You can get the whole set of images at DOODLEDRAGON.  The "full of fun" illustrator Dustin Pike has done it again with his creative magic. This set contains a castle, shoe on a pillow, dragon with princess, dragon with knight, dragon, Rapunzel with castle, Wizard, dwarf and more...go see for yourself HERE.

This is how the story goes...

This castle was owned by a beautiful princess.  One very dark day the pink dragon attacked the castle and took over the castle and claimed it as his own...and the princess ran away in fright.  But not to worry, along came a very handsome prince and he "took out" the pink dragon.  The princess heard the news and returned back to her castle where she fell in love with the handsome prince...and they lived happily ever after.  The End.

Here is a little coloring for inspiration.

I have a little niece that is going to be calling me shortly as soon as she sees this image....right Olivia.  And of course my nephew Little Jake is gonna want the dragon slayer, because he is a little dragon slayer.

Copics used:  E33, E35, E57, RV13, RV21, RV23, V17, V15, V12, R59, R46, R35, W1, W3, W5, W7, YR15, E50, E51, E00, E11

Wish Me Luck...

Okay...now that I have completely converted myself to coloring with Copics I thought I would throw out a challenge to myself....oh, and what a challenge it was.  The challenge was to color an image using all the other mediums I used to use.  I think I forgot how to color.  Oh Boo!  Here is my attempts at using other mediums.  It was kind of fun, despite the struggle.  I came to the conclusion...I love my Copics!   I used this "lucky" image by illustrator Dustin Pike.  I colored with watercolor pencils, Prismacolor pencils, Chalk pencils and copics to compare.  You can get your image too by signing up to DoodleDragonStudios membership.  This image is in the January Membership.

 Now...down to business...

Derwent Watercolor pencils.  These actually were kind of fun.  I used it on my Copic paper and the results (although not as vivid) blended pretty smoothly.  I could use this medium again.

Oh, the trusty Prismacolor pencils.  Oh how I missed you.  I blended these without using any blending solution.  They are creamy to color with and blend really nicely with vivid colors....but...there just aren't enough colors....and I have a TON

Schwan Stabilo chalk pencils...oh how you really just piss me off :)  Okay, maybe not all that bad.  These blend nicely, but try keeping them from smearing...and chalk dust everywhere...and when you color the black lines your "coloring inside of" start fading with chalk dust....Nope...I no likey!

Digital (by Dustin Pike).  Well digital has its place in life...but no matter how hard one tries it still looks flat.  So it really isn't my thing.

Copics...my love...my sweet....Oh how I love thee...you are the one for me!  So many colors to choose from.  You blend so nicely.  You do not smudge or leave a mess.  You are quite forgiving.  When you are dry, I fill you back up.  You and Me...forever!

A Little Sugar!

When life hands you lemons.....

Here is a card I made out of one of my images. You can click on the images to get a close up...the lemons are textured using the blending solution and a rag.   Very quick, simple coloring.  Come on and play!  Would love to have some sweet lovin and links to what you create.  It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside!

It is a freebie today....so you can grab it and play!

I used Copic Y08, Y06, Y02, Y11, YG67, YG63, YG03, W3

OH YAH....BTW my friend TED is having a little challenge on his blog.  Make a card using your own handwritten sentiment and you could get a cool prize if your name is drawn...I soooo couldn't resist this challenge.  Head on over and play!

I love the new images Dustin Pike has created for the February Members on his site.  This is one of them.  His Bunnies are such characters!  I know we haven't gotten through Vday yet, but if you want to get a head of the game for a good deal you might want to head on over and get signed up.  You can sign up HERE.

Copic Coloring Craze - Tutorial

I was playing with my markers yesterday coloring up Gerry Giraffe and thought that I would just turn it into a step-by-step tutorial seeing as all of you enjoyed the last one.  So here is Gerry.  You can buy your image HERE for $1.50 and follow along.  Copics used:  E57, E35, E33, B97, B95, B93, YG67, W3.  Print your image on Copic compatible paper (laser printer recommended).

Lets get the play time started!!

Starting off with my lightest color brown E33, I marked the area where I wish to leave it the lightest

Now take your darkest color E57 and mark the area you wish to be the shadowed area

Add in the medium brown E35, slightly overlapping the darkest area, blending as you go.

Take your lightest brown, E33, and slightly overlap the medium color and blend out.  Sometimes if I want it really dark I will repeat the process...i find it gives a nicer blend.

It's time to get out the blue's.  Get your lightest blue (B93) and color everywhere that will be blue...color enough to leave the area nice and juicy wet.  I recommend you work each spot that will be blue individually, not color all the blue at once.  This leaves it wet while you work. (so don't do it like I show...this is more for a visual)

Now take your darkest blue (B97) and color the area that will be the shadow...mine is all on the left sides of each area)

Taking your medium Blue (B95) slightly overlap the dark and blend)...don't go too far out or you wont have room for the lightest color next.

Now we take the lightest again and blend in the medium.

I added a little dark, medium, light blue back in again for "pop"

now add your shadow with W3 and a little grass and you are done!

Thank you for joining me again for some play time.

Jenn Dove
