Paper and Pixels Magazine

Did I forget to mention I write Copic articles for Paper and Pixels online magazine every month.   I have been writing them since January and each month is a new technique.  Last month we talked about the blender pen and the blending solution...this month we jumped in feet first into techniques.  Can you guess what the article is about?  You might want to subscribe so you can get in on the fun.

Flutter By

I used a  Peddlers Pack image in the Copic book and as a thank you from the company they sent me this amazing Butterfly Background stamp.  It took me 3 days to figure out how I wanted to color it and a whole bunch of hours carefully coloring.  Be sure and check out the other images they offer.  I have colored the cactus, dragonfly, apples and now the butterfly and love every one of them!!  I have included all the links for you.

I started out by stamping this image twice.  Once in Memento black and another in the cocoa.  The cocoa image is the base as i wanted the lines to be subtle and the black is the butterfly.  I colored the background including the butterfly in black (100) adding some image extensions with the Mulitliner pen.  what is an extension?  Its where i extended part of the image out where the butterfly would have been.   Then I proceeded to color the remaining image.  After coloring the butterfly in the W's (on the black stamped image, I cut it out and adhered only the center of the image to to card so the wings pop.

Copic Color Guide 2 - Nature HOP

Good morning and welcome to a very special blog hop!  I am excited to announce my participation and publication in the new Copic Coloring Guide, Level 2: Nature!
Authors Colleen Schaan and Marianne Walker have partnered up again with the team at Annie’s Attic and some of the most talented artists and designers in the industry to bring you a quality publication packed full of techniques, theory, tutorials, and inspiration.  The 64-page book is the next step in the Coloring Guide series, offering information and educational material for crafters of all skill levels.

From the introductory suggestions for creating a Copic journal and tips for working with digital images, to explanations of advanced blending techniques and detailed tutorials for coloring specific objects, the book presents useful information in an easy-to-follow format.
A bonus CD comes with the book that contains all of the hand-drawn images used in the tutorial section of the book, along with the assembly instructions for all of the projects.
Each participating designer is hopping today to give you a peak at their favorite project from the book - and a chance to WIN your own autographed copy!

Here is the card that I created called "Thanks a Bunch".  All the details for creating this are in the book, so grab your copy or go through the hop and keep your fingers crossed you win one for yourself.  I combined both monochromatic coloring as well as basic coloring and added texture to these yummy apples. I enjoyed making this card and know you will too.

To help kick off the celebration of the new book... each designer on the hop is giving away an autographed copy of the book...signed not only by Colleen and Marianne, but by the individual designer too!  Please comment on this post for your chance to win your copy of mine!  Commenting on my blog will be closed March 14th.  I am running it a little longer as I will be in Alaska visiting family.

Winners will be announced on the individual designer's blog.
