The Black Cat - DreamWeavers Inspirational Challenge

The Dream Team has a big day today! Not only are we into week three of our Pinterest Inspired challenge, we are also playing with Ranger's Stickles Dry Glitter in the mix! We've had so much fun playing with jars of sparkly goodness, that we want to share the fun with two lucky crafters!

Just visit everyone on the list below, and leave comments for everyone. Two winners* will be randomly selected and announced Thursday, July 4th...what a great day for a celebration! Each prize package includes a mix of five Ranger Stickles Dry Glitter, a mix of six Dreamweaver Stencils, and jar of Dreamweaver Translucent Paste, and a Palette Knife for spreading. If you want to add to the fun, play along with our Pinterest challenge and link your own creation to the linkytool on the Dream It Up! blog before July 1st for a chance to win this month's stencil prize. Here's the list of sparkly-Pinteresting players at the bottom of the post for you to enjoy!  Be sure and comment!

For this challenge we are to use something that is inspired from Pinterest.  I didnt have any ranger but thought i would sneak in anyway.   I couldn't resist playing with the Retro Sitting Cat from DreamWeavers.  The paper packet by My Minds Eye I had sitting around was so perfect with this spooky cute cat.  I have never used the DreamWeavers paste on acetate, so I thought I would experiment and see if it worked.  IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM!  If you would like to see the Pinterest Inspiration you can see it HERE.

I laid the stencil on the acetate and taped it on all 4 sides so it wouldn't move.  I spread a generous layer of the black mat paste and then using the scraper tool scraped off the excess.  I removed the tape and gently lifted off the stencil.  It is very important to wash the stencil and tools right away or the paste will be hard to remove.  I set it aside to dry (which doesn't take long in Arizona).  I cut a circle out of a card front and then adhered the cat to the inside cover.  I then placed fun pattern paper on the inside and using foam tape I popped up the front from the back of the card.  I proceeded to then do my many layers adding my new favorite MayArts ribbon.  I love how this card turned out and will display it year round, cause thats the kinda girl I am.

It's In The Details!! Book Release HOP

Welcome to my little part of cyber space where you get to see a peek of what I had the pleasure of being a part of.

I am excited to announce my participation and publication in the latest book in the series, the Copic Coloring Guide, Level 4: Fine Details!

Authors Colleen Schaan and Marianne Walker have partnered up again with the team at Annie’s and some of the most talented artists and designers in the industry to bring you a quality publication packed full of techniques, theory, tutorials, and inspiration.  The 64-page book is the latest in the Coloring Guide series, offering information and educational material for crafters of all skill levels.
From light source to shading and shadows, to mixing mediums and tackling detailed images, this book shows how to take your coloring up one notch further… by focusing on the fine details.  All of the information is presented in an easy-to-follow format.
An included CD contains all of the hand-drawn images used in the tutorial section of the book, along with the assembly instructions for all of the projects.
Each participating designer is hopping today to give you a peak at their favorite project from the book - and a chance to WIN your own autographed copy!

I was so over the moon when they told me they accepted 3 of my cards for this publication.  Here is one that I would like to show you.  This is a Robin Red Breast.  I used no-line-stamping, alcohol brushed background with palette blending for this card and can't wait for you to grab the book and get all the information about it.

You can obtain the rubber stamp HERE at

Do you want a little peek at my other creations?  Of course you do.  Then you can search the book for my other cards.  Be on the lookout for...

To help kick off the celebration of the new book... each designer on the hop is giving away an autographed copy of the book...signed not only by Colleen and Marianne, but by the individual designer too!  Please comment on this post for your chance to win your copy of mine!  Commenting will be closed June 30th.  My winners will be announced on my blog on June 31st...snicker..okay I was trying to keep the book for myself as there is no June 31st.  How about the 1st of July you check back and see if you are a winner!

Here are the other amazing, talented, hard working, creative ladies who are also in the book.

Can't wait for your copy?

Moon Drops - Water Drop Tutorial

I thought it would be fun to share with you a new fun technique.  In this article you get to learn how to add water drops or dewdrops to your favorite image.  Water drops are pretty simple if you follow along with me.  I have created a step by step.  Get out your markers…or even your other coloring medium because the concept is the same.

1.     Draw a circle using a pencil or fine Copic Multiliner pen.  It’s okay if the circle is not perfect.
2.     Color in a darker shade on just one inside edge of your water drop.  I used B97.
3.     Leave a white spot if at all possible and blend out the darkest shade with a medium (B95) shade following the contour of the circle.  If your white spot disappears by mistake then you can add it back later with Opaque White or a white gel pen.
4.     Following the contour of the medium, blend it out using your lightest marker, again leaving white on the opposite side.  I used B93 and a small amount of B91.
5.     For the shadow you will want to mimic the white area within the circle.  Leave a small white area and mimic the outside edge of your circle.  Do not go around the whole circle, just a little ways outside the line of the lightest area within the circle.  For this I used the B97.
6.     Blend that out with the medium tone B95
7.     Blend the medium with the lightest B93 and B91

Water drops mimic the color that it is resting upon.  A green leaf will have green within the drop; if the object is blue the drop will have blue inside.  Your light source plays a big part in doing water drops.  You will place the darkest area within the drop that is closest to the light source and the shadow will be cast from the drop on the farthest side away from the light source.

In the photo below you will see the 4 drops directly behind the angel are incorrect.  The cast shadows are going the wrong direction.

In order to show the light source correctly be sure and place your shadows on the correct side of the drop.

Gnomes and Fairies - Oh My!

I have just landed in another world full of fairies and gnomes.  How how I love alternate reality where everything sparkles like the morning dew and the trees speak you when passing.  The whispers of the fairies as they talk to the flowers and the gruff voice of a gnome going about his duties.  Okay, coming back to earth now.  Here is a fairy I colored up using Make It Crafty NEW release.  You must check out the whole release.  I think a gnome is next to be colored.  I will make cards soon and post them here (in my spare moment)

Come to the 2013 Copic Boot camp and learn how this is done!  All information above in the Copic Retreat tab.  Space is limited and  5 days after the announcement we are half full already.  We have lovely ladies coming from NY, HI, CA and an amazing group from Arizona!  Come with a friend or by yourself...cause you are NEVER alone!

BeACh Boy

I guess blogger wanted to show you this little cute that I hadn't published before.  He is from Stampendous and is perfect for those summer parties.  I colored the waves and added opaque white for a little dimension.

First Layer - Color image using your favorite medium.  Using Opaque White (by Copic) add to the white caps of the waves for dimension.  Cut image to 2 7/8 x 3 3/8 and layer onto 3 x 3 5/8 dark blue card stock and then onto 3 1/4 x 3 3/4 light blue card stock.

Second Layer - Cut dot pattern paper to 3 1/2 x 2 7/8 and layer onto 3 3/4 x 3 1/8 light blue card stock.  Place onto 3 7/8 x 3 1/4 dark blue card stock.  Wrap twice with twine.

Bottom Layer - Cut plaid patten paper 4 x 5 1/4 and place onto 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 light blue card stock and then onto a dark blue card base (A2 tent fold)

Assembly - Using foam pop up tape place image onto second layer.  Place second layer onto the card base assembly using foam pop up tape as shown in photo.  Cut 3 little banner flags and place on top left corner of card.  place twine on top and place buttons centered to the three flags.

WAKE UP! The DreamWeavers Rooster is Crowing

I am a huge rooster fan...or rather a fan of roosters so I went hunting on pinterest for roosters.  I saw this painting and loved the colors so thought that this would be my inspiration for week 3 of DreamWeavers Pinterest inspiration challenge on their blog HERE.

I used the Rooster stencil LG732 to create an outline of the image.  I used a Copic Multiliner pen as I knew I wanted to color it with my Copics.  I colored it in just like I would have a stamped image using Copic markers YR23, YR24,YR27,R46, R59, BG75, B34, B37, B39, and Y19.  I used Diamond Grid LJ882 to airbrush "chicken wire" on the background paper.  I cut out my rooster and layered it on the card.  Notice how I used the MayArts ribbon to look like barb wire...clever huh?  I love the versatility of the stencils.  Paste, airbrushing, "jentangling"...endless possibilities!!

You have to check out the other lovelies too!

Prepared To Be Wowed with DreamWeavers

Dreamweaver is having a monthly challenge of Pinterest inspired inspirations.  I found this amazing tattoo with flowers and bees the other week and thought this would be perfect for my inpiration.

Just say right?  You're actually the heck does she get all that stuff one small card!
I always have fun making my cards...even under extreme pressure of deadlines.  This card knocked even my socks off...let me give you some of the details.

For this project I used DreamWeavers hexagon stencil and gloss white want the details or what?  Okay then...settle down... I applied the stencil and paste to the Core'dinations "Shattered" cardstock.  The next step was to sprinkle the wet paste with Stampendous! Micro crystal glitter...I love glitter..yum yum...I set it aside to dry.  After it dried (okay I sped up the process with the good ol' heat tool), I airbrushed it with a little Copic Y19 and YR24.  I airbrushed the MayArts ribbon while I had the stencil out.  Next layer, layer, layer...well you get the idea if your looking at the photo....LOOK at the photo already...okay ready for the next stuff....focus now... I wrapped the edge with the ribbon giving a little twist and turn and a glue dot every now and then.  I Stamped the sentiment on the pink paper and layered as shown.  I colored up a bundle of bees, cut and glittered the wings.  As you can see they are popped all over the card....MWAH!  Don't you just love it?

...before you run off if you are looking for links to the supplies used they are below.

DreamWeaver Pinterest Inspired Inspiration

DreamWeaver is having a fun new challenge and have invited me to play along.  The challenge is to find some inspiration from Pinterest or other sources.  So I went looking...boy ones day can disappear pretty quickly with all the fun stuff to look at.
I used the teacup stencil (LG 683 Teacup) for my inspiration.
I took the tea cup and traced it twice, one inside of the other.  This provided the perfect outline for my creative ink to start "flowing".  I found some of my favorite "Zentangle" pieces on pinterest...and turned my piece into a "Jentangle".  You can see some of the inspirational pieces HERE.

I love using the Dreamweaver stencils.  The quality of the stencil makes it so it will last for ever with care.  I use them in so many ways and was tempted to pull out the paste and do more...but sometimes i just have to stay stop.  Be sure and check out some of the other open stencils they carry and find your inspiration and create.
This amazing stencil is available HERE.

You can see more inspiration with these amazing talented gals...and enter into the latest challenge on the DreamWeaver blog for your chance to win yummy stuff!

Paper and Ribbon and Stamps, Oh My!

Thats're about ready to get it from all sides...images, paper, ribbon and embellishments, Oh my!...hang tight!  Stampendous has collaborated with MayArts, Core'dinations and DavidTutera.  You think creating something for one company is fun, you ain't seen fun yet!  Get ready to hop around for some F-U-N!

I created this card using Stampendous Birthday Jazz Cats and All That Jazz sentiment.  These little funny cats were super quick to color for that "I don't have time" kind of card.  I layered them on some beautiful Core'dinations paper.  The top layer is actually glitter paper...who doesn't love glitter!?!  I wrapped the layers with mayArts very natural feeling ribbon.  You can fold the ribbon over to create a thinner strip.  Very versatile. I bet you can dye it pretty easily as well. Maybe next time.  Using DavidTutera embellishments I topped the card off with the precut boarder.  Life is always more simple when the stuff is precut...thus making this a quick and simple card!   Okay, I could have left it just like that, but a card is never complete without chunky fun stuff...the stuff I am talking about is the yummy Stampendous Glass Glitter and Color fragments.  All links to products are down below....leave me some love and hop around to the other blogs for a look at their inspiration.
