MayArts Woven Basket - Tutorial

Do you remember this piece from the Stampendous! october release.  I have to admit it is a favorite and sits pretty in one of the local stamp stores as a sample.  I would like to show you how I made the "basket" using MayArts Woven Burlap.  Not only am I a "ribbon Ho" but I love my MayArts ribbon assortment so much I use it sparingly to make it last longer.  My bad...well we are going to try to change that!  I can alway buy more, right?

This May Arts woven burlap is one of my most favorites.  Their are many uses but in this case I wanted a woven basket look so that is just what I made.  Its quite simple actually.   Here are the steps involved.

Cut some stiff card stock to the shape of your basket.  Cut strips of the ribbon all one direction (horizontal) and adhere to the underneath of both sides of card stock shape.

Now starts the weaving process...adhere one strip of ribbon under card stock going vertically.  For the weave you will go over the first horizontal and then under the next and repeat until you have woven all vertical strip. adhere to the back once you have completed that weave and start back at the beginning.
The next row will be the opposite by starting under the first horizontal and then over the next and repeat until the area you are working in in completed.  When finished you will have your very own woven basket.  Give it a try...try any material to get different looks, paper strips, cord, leather, sheer, satin canvas and more, all producing amazing results.

I colored the Violets image up a bunch of times.  Layering them and then placed them in the basket.  I used Stampendous Color Fragments along the bottom of the card.  Have you seen all the color choices Stampendous has in the Color Fragments?

...and yes, another card that weighs a ton.

I hope you enjoyed the little tutorial...see you back soon!
