The Love of a Friend

Hello friends.   Color of the Day is on standby for a week.  Please read.

I wanted to take a moment to talk about a wonderful person that has had a lot of influence on my life for almost 10 years.  This wonderful friends name is Leesa.  She was my encouragement, my person I could talk to when I was sad.  The person I could tell bad jokes to and she would still laugh.  She was my second opinion on most things I do.  She could keep a secret like no other (even if it was because she forgot the secret).  She was creative, caring, loving to everyone she met and made time for me even when she wasn't "feeling it".  All these things and more she was to me...as I was to her.  That is what best friends are for.  On October 8th God said it was her time to go.  It was unexpected and has left me shaken, feeling numb and kinda a mess.  I am working on being at peace with this, knowing she is now in Gods arms and in a much better place.  Her husband had been unexpectedly taken from her...and now she is with him and I know they are both very happy together at last.  I know Leesa is at peace now.  I will not be posting the Color of The Day for about 1 week as I travel to Colorado to assist her family of whom I love.  Stand by and hang tight....I will be back with more colors soon.  Thank you all for understanding.  And one more thing...call your best friend and tell them you love them!

Jennifer I am so sad for you and for your loss. It is never easy to lose a loved one especially at such a young age but you are right, she is with the Lord now, in His loving arms and experiencing His perfect peace and that is what we want for our loved ones. Please know that she will never have any more pain and suffering and she will never know anything except pure love and peace from now on. I will be praying for her family and for you. I know that you love her so please be happy for her. Love you Sweetie, Sharman

I am in the process of losing someone to cancer and I know from this and previous experience how painful loss can be. I think it is wonderful that you can realize she is with her husband now and hopefully, find some peace in that. Regardless, losing those we live is never easy and I wish you strength during this horrible time. Most importantly, take the time you need to grieve and take care of yourself.

I lost a friend last year and was BROKEN. She was not my best friend as we were just getting to know each other... I cannot even IMAGINE what you are going through. I am so sorry for your loss.

Jenn, a few words from someone who has lost her best friend: You'll never get over this, but you WILL get through it. Allow yourself to grieve; the only way to get over grief is to grieve. Don't set (or let anyone else set) a timetable for you: it takes as long as it takes. And finally: at some point, you will not only remember that your best friend died, but that she lived.

Jen, I just saw this post. I will leave you with this which is something I think you shared with Leesa.

Proverbs 17:17 A friend loves at all times.

It's a verse I've shared with a dear navy wife for well over 30 years. Nothing else needs to be said. I can't tell you how many times I've opened an email or text at a time I needed to hear it most. There it was - sometimes nothing more than: 17:17

I always know who it's from and it blesses me each and every time. May the God who loves you heal your heart, comfort and bring you peace.

Very sincerely,

Just getting to post your card, so you'll probably get a lot more letters. You know I loved Leesa, too, and found her to be the sweetest, most loving, least judgmental person I've ever met. A huge loss to us, but obvious why they'd want her in Heaven! Hang tough, stay strong, she would want that, and keep coloring, she loved your art as much as she loved you!!! Wonderful card, btw!! Thanks for sharing with us! -L
