January Class Preview

Although the class is sold out with over 40 people I thought I would share what we will be coloring...drooling is allowed.  If you couldn't get into the class you can make your own cards using my ideas.  Using 3 images from DoveArt Studios I am playing around with more of a "guy" theme.  I enjoyed making these cards and was surprised how quickly I could color them and still make a nice statement.

You can details under class schedule tab above or head over to DoveArt Studios blog for closeups on these cards.

Must Have's - Hot Ribbon

Well I had a fun few hours playing today.  I had a little pair of boys shoes that were red and wanted to turn them into girls shoes for my little one.  I had a fun idea running through my head.  I got to play with Imagination Internationals new Hot Ribbon and Clover Iron to create this little transformation.  It was such a fun and easy process.  What is Hot Ribbon you ask?

Hot Ribbon is a durable, 2 sided 1/8" iron-on polyester ribbon that is machine washable and perfect for creating your own iron-on patches and for embellishing appliqué.  It adheres to fabric and paper surfaces when heated with the iron.  Hot Ribbon has a glossy surface with a special adhesive on the other side.  It bonds when heated.

I slightly overlaid the pieces on a non-stick heat mat using the iron and then cut the preferred shapes.  Once the shapes were made I laid them on the shoes and heated a second time to adhere to the shoes surface.

There is a large assortment of color choices to choose from.  You can find them HERE.  The heat tool is just the right size for small spaces and you can find it HERE.

On a side note:

Hot Ribbon Art is an iron-on, no sew, 1/8" wide ribbon that can be used to finish the raw edges of appliqué. Imported from Japan, Hot Ribbon is gaining in popularity with quilters who like to finish off their projects quickly and have a dramatic look. Each package of Hot Ribbon contains 2 yards (four 18 inch strands).

It's sNOw Fun Without You

A few last minute wintery cards to make before my Winter stamps go back into their igloo.  It always makes me cold making snow cards as it brings back lots of memories of trekking through thigh deep snow in Alaska.  Of course you learn to dress for the weather but after living in a warmer climate you soon forget.  How about a fun wintery sledding card?  This is a new stamp from LDRSCreative and is called Winter Fun.  It was a quick and easy card to make.  Why can't snow be teal?  Who makes these rules anyways?

Quick Christmas Fun

Nothing like having Christmas sneak up on you and you still have cards to make.  How about choosing to keep it simple and letting the sentiment and images be the focal point?  Here are some cards I created for an upcoming class.  I had fun with 5 new stamps from CCDesigns.  I grabbed my dies and embossing folders and BAM!! I was done (well not really cause tons of thought goes into the cards).  Didn't these did turn out "simply" cute!

Get Better

I have been busy lately with Copic Boot Camp and classes but took a moment to create this card.  I used one of the latest releases from LDRSCreative called "Winter Cuppa".  I thought it would be perfect for someone feeling icky and needed a little warming up.  I would love to chill out with a bear (just sayin')!

One Can Dream!

You know I am a sucker for a good challenge. has the new challenge up and its a doozy!  How about "AURORA AUSTRALIS/AURORA BOREALIS" for a fun challenge...took some thinking and researching.  Although I have been blessed with seeing the Northern Lights in person I was so much in awe all I good do it watch with my jaw dropped onto the snow.  It is one of the most beautiful things I have experienced.  Here is my rendition.  I made it using glossy cardstock and my handy-dandy airbrush machine.

I used a snowman and fun Chippes from MakeItCrafty to top it off.  You can find them HERE.  I colored the snowman with Copics (of course) and the Chippie word I colored with the new Copics Kirarina Wink which leaves a fun shimmer.

Must Haves...

I have heard lots of you saying "we want to color flowers".  Well someone was listening.  Copic now has a few NEW Coloring Foundations tutorial books for those wanting to learn new things and fun techniques.

I got to play with them today and wanted to share a little about them for those curious as to what is inside the sealed package.  You will find two Coloring Foundations books, "Coloring Flowers" and "Coloring Faces and Hair".  Both books come with line art tutorial images to color and a beautifully printed bound book.  Inside the books you will be inspired with step by step instructions and colored images.  The author Marianne Walker also shares tips and tricks that you can incorporate in all your coloring.

I thought I would see how easy it was to follow a tutorial.  I followed it exactly as they had it written. The hardest thing was to not grab others colors as I am not a pink person, but once I got past that, the image turned out amazing and I couldn't stop at just one image.  The book not only explains the color combos but a bunch of different techniques used in each image.

For those that are stuck in a rut, want to pick up on fun techniques that are new to you, or just maybe not used as often these are the books to grab!

You can find them through

Just Plain Scary!

So my buddy Zoe with Make It Crafty always challenges us to think outside the box.  This is an extraordinary challenge with her followers.  She gave anyone who wanted to play one of her cute digital stamps "Penny in Love" shown below and challenged us to turn her into a Zombie.  OH YAH!  This is what I came up with.  RUN and HIDE if this isn't your "thing"!

We call this "Creative Color Placement" as no lines have been altered.  in this case it is EXTREME Creative Color Placement.

Take Care

Ok, this was as project.  It might not look like it.  It took me days to draw the zipper.  Then I put it into photoshop and added a fun portrait digital stamp from Make It Crafty behind the zipper.  Then the indecisiveness of what colors to use making it an all day coloring project.  In the end I am totally thrilled with the outcome.

The inspiration for this was the newest challenge from  The challenge is "Bright Colours".   I am on the Design team and we were to come up with some inspiration for the challenge.  I hope you are inspired and come join in on the fun.

Winter Warmth

I thought I would challenge myself to try something new.  Blending Copics into a white area. Leaving A TON of white...its hard to do.  You must make sure the last color blended is light enough, and use the blender marker to smooth it into the white.  I like the look but its not an everyday style for me.  I thought I would share the outcome with you and you can give it a try too.

This stamp is a new release from Little Darling Rubber Stamps.  The stamp is called Winter Warmth and can be found HERE.

On My Mind

I love Dustin Pike's illustrations.  His Buzzards are to-die-for!  This is another card for this month's class in Phoenix.  If you are not local you can pick up this stamp at your local store.  Just have them order it from CCDesignsRubberStamps or through their distributer.  I really had fun making this card.  I think it is a little bit of funny...and I like funny.  The fun banner die can be picked up at CCDesigns too.  We are going to have fun in this class!  Sorry to rub it in to all those that live afar...but you're always on my mind if that counts for anything.

Happy Turkey Day

Getting all geared up for the holidays?  Guess what comes before Christmas...Halloween and Thanksgiving!  How about a great card for Thanksgiving?  This image would also be great for a "I'm sorry you're down" card, or "hope tomorrow is a better day".  You can get this stamp at CCDesigns or your local scrapbook store.  This is one of next months cards for the class at The Paper Collage.

Color of the Day 217

***Please note that I color using the lightest color first, dark, medium and back to light.  I only slightly blend the edge of the last color placed.  Then add the shadow.

If you miss one of the combo's you can find it on the side of the blog labeled "Color of The Day".  Please realize that your computer screen and printer can change the way you see it or how the colors print, but if you try it yourself you will get some fun combos...promise!

Also, feel free to pin them.  I ask that you do not sell them printed out, do not place them on your personal blog but rather link to mine.  These are for personal use only.   Leave me some love if you want to see more!

Thank you to all my followers and fans from all over the world.

Snail Mail for your Birthday

So my friend Barb with LittleMissMuffet had a little booboo that happened and was good for a laugh.  A handful of stamps were made 6 inches x 6 inches instead of the smaller desired size she wanted.  So for fun she had some of us color the huge stamped image up.  It really was a blast.  I think we need more 6 x 6 stamps!  I was able to cut it down to fit on an A2 (mostly).  I stamped it in pink so the lines disappeared.  Fun right?!   LittleMissMuffet Stamps now has this wonderful stamp available in the store in the correct size...OR the Jumbo ones are for sale.  HERE IS THE LINK
