Thing's are Looking Up

Looking up...down...from the side.  How fun is this?!  This funny fellow is from the new clear set jut released from La-La Land.  He is one of many in this set Things are Looking Up, and I just had to color him.  Just look at that expression.

I stamped him 6 times in Memento Tuxedo Black and then cut him out.  I stamped the background using the new Hello Lovely rubber stamp set in Versafine Onyx Black to get a crisp impression.  Using Peek-a-Boo Circles Die From Taylored Expressions I die cut out the front panel.  I popped up all the little decapitated (I just had to say that) ostriches within the popped up windows.  I added some fun ribbon to separate the circle frames.  Simple but Oh-so-sweet dont you think?.

Nature Calls

I have to admit I am a nature girl at heart.  I was so thrilled to see this set from La-La Land come out. These succulents are delicious.  The background stamp really has some nice deep etching giving it a crisp image when stamped.  I used the new Tim Holtz Stamp Platform to get this nice impression.

I stamped them in Pear Tart Memento ink and then colored them with Copics.  Because I stamped in such a light complimenting color the lines just about disappeared.  This gives the stamp a more natural appearance.  I Googled "succulents" to find some fun color combinations for these images.  I stamped the popped up layer using Walnut Stain Ranger Distress stamp pad with the Wood Planks background stamp from La-La Land and then cut it out with Tonics the Sunflower Array edge.  I die cut out the Oval center and popped up the wood plank piece.   I used a newer die from Tonic called Blocked Parquet & Garden Trellis Die for the trellis looking background within the oval.

Have You Herd?

Yes, I have herd!  This cute barnyard clear set From the Herd from La-La Land Crafts has a little of everything and for this card I used a lot of everything.  Included in the set is a rooster, a couple of chicks, lamb, goat, piggy, cow, complimenting sentiments and flowers.  For this card I wanted to create a barnyard stacked image.

I chose 3 of the cute stamps in this clear stamp set and colored them up using Copics  Next I fussy cut them out and stacked them.  They are neatly popped up off the card on this super cool background stamp from the rubber set Just For You that La-La Land has just released.   I used the Spiced Ginger Aqua Flow brush from Nuvo and colored the stamp.  Next I spritzed the stamp with water using the Light Mist Spray Bottle from Nuvo and stamped it onto white cardstock.  It gives it a more watercolored look.  Next I added some buttons, enamel dots and Bubblegum Blush Nuvo Crystal drops to add fun elements to accent the image.  To finish it off I wanted to add a larger sentiment so I grabbed my chippies from Make It Crafty.  I colored the background piece with Copic C10 and the top piece with R85.  I had a lot of fun with this card if you couldn't tell.  What a nice therapy coloring session this was!!

Be Happy

Time is running out to purchase the Paper Door kit from Whimsy Stamps.  These are only available for a limited time and have limited quantities available.  Time is ticking!  For this shaker I used some of the elements in the box but then added my own shaker pieces using a punch and the delicious glitter paper that comes in the kit.  How easy to make complimenting pieces for your shakers.

I also created my own background paper using a finger dauber and a distress ink pad.  I enjoy making my own papers and this clear stamp set made it such an easy choice.

Foxy Lady

Here is one of the cards made from the lovely La-La Land release.  For this card I used the fox from Spring Woodland Critters and the background from Wood Planks.  The Woodland set comes with sentiments, a bunny, deer, squirrel, beaver, fox and a flower cluster.  So many choices.

I stamped the background with the wood plank.  This  is a  nice sized rubber stamp.  I stamped it with my Ranger Stormy Sky Distress ink.  I love the look of blue and orange together and leaving the accent pieces white gave it that POP to round it out. I used the Two Flag die from La- La Land and die cut it 3 times to create the banner.   The popped up strips of paper above the flags and the piece that the fox is sitting on were pierced with the Pierced Border Trio from Whimsy Stamps to add that extra touch.   After coloring up this sweet fox I cut her out and popped her up onto the pierced die cut strip.  This card was finished up with the delicious Copper Penny and Double Denim Nuvo Crystal drops and a little bling.

So I have been busy, busy, busy playing with the NEW release from La-La Land Crafts and am so thrilled to finally share them with you.  I am showing you all the cards I created in this post so you don't miss out on getting these stamps right away.   I am sure these are going to be a hot item!  New clear sets AND new sets that have a larger rubber background stamp and stamps that compliment it.  YES!!!  These make me squeal!

First up I have the sweetest fox from the Spring Woodland Critters clear set.  This is just one of the images featuring forest friends.  I combined this image with this blue background from Wood Plank.  of course I had to add a favorite La-La Land Two Flags die that can be found HERE.

Next this funny guy, the Ostrich, is from the clear set Things Are looking Up and I paired him up with the background from the new Hello Lovely rubber set.

Who can resist some barnyard fun with this clear stamp set From the Herd.  I stamped, cut and layered these crazy friends on top of each other and placed them on the new background that come in the Just For You rubber set.

And last, but not least, how about some nature with these luscious succulents and wood background from the rubber set Wood Plank

All of these amazing stamp sets and more can be purchased right away HERE

Liquid Hug

You need coffee? It is my liquid hug!  This adorable clear set Espresso-ly Great is from Whimsy Stamps it is just the kick I needed.  I colored this up with Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens.   The rich colors allowed for a lot of coloring fun. The background was created with Whimsy Stamps Farmhouse Fabric background.  All I did was smoosh some watercolor on a palette and then stamp into it, then stamped it onto the background paper.

You can get your stamps and coloring yum now at these links below.

Whatzup Buttercup

Sometimes we just gotta say "Manure Happens".  I am still on a cow kick if you couldn't tell.  This sweet bovine is from Whimsy Stamps and is called "Hay, Whatzup, Buttercup".  I love the name of it.

I have a pile of images on my desk to create with and I have to say I totally spaced writing the colors down for this card.  I can only guess...so I will, because that is fun.

Bugs and Kisses

Here is another stamp I had to color up off the Ladybug Garden clear stamp set.  I can tell I am gonna use this set a ton!  It has the cutest little bugs and things.
I used Th CDD Fancy Frames Die (that I use a whole lot) to create the white image background and then ran it through my die cut machine with a cuttlebug folder giving it more texture.  I topped it off with the In Line die to give it a sweet banner look.  This was super fun and would give a nice cheery feeling to anyone who receives it.  I had fun matching the paper on this one too.  I am a huge Doodlebug paper fan and tend to use a lot of their papers.  Here are the links so you can get your dies and stamp set too.

Bug Love

Sending out a little bit of Craftin' Desert Divas love today.  This sweet set of bugs and bears are really full of cuteness.  This clear set Ladybug Garden has so many different stamp options to color up.  For this one I thought I would keep it simple and use one of the cute flowers as the background stamp as I didn't have any white paper with black dots and that is what I had envisioned for this card.  How easy is that?!
After doing a little fussy cutting I finished it off with a few little red Nuvo Crystal Drops to bring all the colors together.

This cool penguin is hanging with his chicks.   Not just one chick on his arm, but a whole bunch.  What a dude!  This is one of this years releases from Whimsy Stamps.  I had a couple of hours to play with a friend the other day, and this is what I colored.  It is nice to take a break every now and then and just color because you feel like it.  So this was my "feel good" image.

A Little Love

I know its been a while since I shared something from one of my favorite companies, Power Poppy.  Crazy how life gets in the way and then their always seem to be more important priorities or you just forget to get back in the groove.  Well here I am grooving' it.  (Sorry sweet Marci for being a slacker and depriving the world of your amazing images)
This is the newly released digital image "Cup of Columbine" that is now available.  This release has a couple different digital options.  One has a bird and egg and the other does not.  For this card I enjoyed coloring the image with the bird.  I wanted to keep this image very light and spring-like so I used brighter colors.  I added one of Zoe's Chipboard words.  I love how dainty they are and still leaving a strong statement.  Of course finishing off the whole project with some sweet little Bubblegum Nuvo drops.

Nobody's Perfect

I just got a moment to play with this stamp set I received Heartfelt Creations Booth.  I saw it and knew exactly the creation I had in mind.  It was hard for me to step away as I kept wanting to add more.  I just love this You're a Hoot stamp set don't you?
I was super excited to get to look around the Heartfelt Creations booth at CHA in Phoenix this past January.  Talking to Emma Lou and the team just reconfirmed what a wonderful company this is.  So dedicated to their customer and products.   Very genuine in all that they do...real people!   You can see the love in the cards they display and the products they release.  If you haven't joined their facebook yet you really must.  It is so inspiring!

I tried keeping the overall color choices simple created this fun card.  Check out all the layers!  Be sure and grab your stamp set while they are available.  Whooooo doesn't like sweet funny owls?

Hop Hop Hop Shimmer

I have some super fun new products to show today.  I got a chance to color up the new Easter Bunny Chibi from Bloobel.  She is just the cutest chibi spreading Easter cheer dont you think?  I wanted to create my own background to match my project so I chose to give the NEW Nuvo Shimmer Powder a try.  Oh my gosh what a fun medium!!!

The Shimmer Powder is a very rich mica dust in an easy to use bottle.  I sprinkled it on a white background and then using the Tonic Light Misting Spray Bottle I spritzed water and watched the magic happen.  Its softens the mica and the shimmer explodes on the paper.

As you can see I used very little of the Shimmer Powder and it still gave it a fantastic coverage.  The paper did curl while wet but quickly flattened out.  If you ever have the page curl and want to make sure it curls back you can heat set it.  Heating the back of the paper causes it to curl the other way more quickly.

Once it was dry, I die cut the piece out with a small stitched rectangle and fussy cut my bunny to be the focal point of the card.  After assembling all the layers I added the Make It Crafty coolest chipboard sentiment colored in black.  I glued it to the front of the card on a popped up layer to add more dimension.  Finishing it off with the Nuvo Crystal drops in Carnation Pink and Ripened Pumpkin to bring it all together.

I wanted a very small dot pattern on the little girls shirt so I shaded it first with the markers and then used a .05 pink multiliner to do some simple dots.  I love the results...simple!

Another cute Whimsy Stamp "Little Lion" all colored up with Copics.  For this card I used 3 different techniques, flicking, blending and texture rag and some dotting to complete this image.  Great practice for my students after we practice all three techniques in class.  This class is being taught in Phoenix, AZ in March and Oakhurst, CA in April.

B-A-B-Y

Here is another cuteness "Baby Words" from The Paper Nest Dolls.  I had fun using all the different colors to create this card for a sweet little one.

For the buttons I used some black enamel dots I had in my stash and the tiny dots are Nuvo Crystal drops from Tonic.  I love how the lack accents the card and is a bit different then your normal baby card.

This is part of the new released stamps and can be purchased now in the store.  Everyone needs a sweet image for that baby that pops into our lives.  This one can be used for both boy or girl...and if your expecting twins just stamp twice and cut out a second bunny.

You Mooooove Me

A while back I did a piece of artwork of a cow for a friend...Something about cows that are just so intriguing...when I saw this image with the cows face tilted at an angle I had to have it!  I have been using a lot of black card stock or pattern paper lately as I love the pop and frame it gives an image.  I thought I would keep with the black and add a little color so I brought in the pink from the nose.  I know all cows noses aren't pink but this cows is.

My artwork.

We are parked on a ranch right now and today a baby calf was born...yes its nose is pink!  Photo below.

Baby heifer born today
I have been wanting a good image for the Cheery Lynn Barbed Wire die I have, and this is definitely it!  I added the die to the image and then colored the bell a second time and placed it over the top.

Hop, Hop, Hop Like a Bunny

Jumping into March with this cute "Easer Bunny Hopping"from Whimsy Stamps.  Who doesn't love a happy bunny.  I actually messed up on coloring the eggs...meaning I didn't like the colors I chose.  What did I do to fix it?  I colored them black and added details with a gel pen.

I added the Sweet Lilac Nuvo Crystal drops but couldn't resist adding a little bling to the centers so that the Nuvo became a the crystals bezel.  I think its another fun way to use the Nuvo.  What so you think?

Spring Fairy

Spring Fairy is now in the Whimsy Stamps store.  She comes with a cute little bunny but I decided to not include the bunny for this card.  I love the color combo I ended up going with.  Do you notice that by placing a hard shadow under her skirt it made the skirt pop off the page?  Don't be afraid to go dark with your shadows.  I added a little gel pen to add some more fun to the image.
Of course I had to add crazy Nuvo drops to it for added dimension and because of the wide variety of colors I can keep with the color palette.  To finish it off I added some of the delicious Make It Crafty chipboard dimensional words.  Coloring the bottom layer black and the top layer blue makes it stand out even more.

I used the Whimsy Hand Stitched Nested Rectangle dies to frame the different layers.  I love the fact that the stitches aren't straight.  It adds some extra fun to the card.  You can find them in the store at the link below.  Here are the colors I used to make this card.

Manure Happens

Yes, I went there!  We are currently stationary on a ranch in our RV,  I get to enjoy everything about cows.  This was perfect timing for this fun clear set to be released from Whimsy Stamps.  I enjoyed making this card and love the layout.  I kinda have a soft spot for farm animals.   I needed a little chalkboard so I created one using some recycled Starbucks stir sticks to make this "chalkboard" frame.
Whimsy now has some AMAZING background stamps that are HUGE.  They allow you to create backgrounds for 6x6 card sizes.  I used Shiplap background for this card and used my water alcohol brush and Copics to create the vintage distressed look.  I heat embossed the sentiment onto black cardstock and added the little frame.  I stamped the jar, colored and cut it out.  After adding it to the card I stamped the dried flowers partially in the jar and out and added Nuvo Crystal drops to add dimension to the tops of them.  That little cow didn't need much but I added a shadow and fussy cut it out, popping it up off the card.  Of course shabby isn't complete without some vintage buttons and dyed cheese-cloth.  I hope you are inspired by this fun card.

Oh Baby

I am pleased to be a guest designer for the new release at The Paper Nest Dolls this week.  All of the release stamps and digitals are so darn cute I had a hard time choosing but in the end I decided on this stamp with Baby Owen with Lamb.   I stamped the image multiple times so I could do some stacking with the cute lamb.  Even though I used the little boy stamp I still decided to color it up like a girl (note the pink bottle).  I was trying to keep it generic...but oops.  I added the letters B-A-B-Y using a die from My Favorite Things to create a platform for the image to sit on.
This was super fun to color and now I have a stamp that will work for all those baby cards.  I could even use the little lamb on its own as it is far enough away from the main image to cut out.

Here you can see all the layers I have created.  I love to pop things up on a card as if you couldn't tell.

If you head over to Paper Nest Dolls and leave a comment you can potentially be a random winner of some yummy goodies...go ahead...go do it!  You can check out the other images in the release too!

Willow Climb

I just love this newer image from Stampendous, "Willow Climb".  This is a quick and simple card that lets the image shine without to many distraction.  I love how coloring the House Mouse stamps are so easy with the drawn texture in the image.  You really dont have to worry about a smooth blend other then the face.
This is a card I am teaching at the end of this month as well as the big sold out event in April at Yosemite.  But you can grab your own stamp and whip this little card up all on your own.  I added Ivory Seashell Nuvo Drops to accent the image.  They look like little pearls.  I love this color and if you aren't a color collector you at least need to grab this one.

Coffee...Yes Please!

This is the 4th card I designed for one of my classes in April in California.  Sometimes I wonder why I drag my feet kicking and screaming to get things done.  When I finally finished this card I was doing a happy dance because I just love it!!  I am a huge fan of this clear set from Whimsy as well as the paper combos.  It just makes me H-A-P-P-Y!
The layout just fell together after I quit fighting it.  Ever have one of those moments?  It is quite simple to color as there were very minimal colors used to achieve this look.

{Heart} You

My mind went a little boingy when I started designing this card.  Its one of those...I'm not sure I love it, but I love it cards.  This stamp is from La-la Land Crafts.   For this card I used the new release Heart Hands Molli.  Did you know she is either rubber or digi?  Perfect for everyone.   I added the stripes to Molli's clothing.  I wanted matching paper for the skirt so I used my black Copics to create the stripes.  I love how I can make matching paper.  I do like the mixture of crazy papers.

I wanted to use the Open Hearts Doily die in an unconventional way so I cut off the lower portion of it and started entwining different pieces to make it more dimensional.  I should have added the Nuvo drops before it was on the card so they would be nice and round but alas it was an afterthought.  I did use some of the hearts from the border to add elements.  If you look at all the little pieces that are the leftovers from the Doily die you can see that its great pieces for a shaker card, so save them.
